2009-2010 SHS POLICY FOR PARKING AND PARKING PERMITS

IF YOUR CHILD HAS NOT BOUGHT A PARKING PERMIT, THEY MAY COME BETWEEN 7:05-7:20AM OR AFTER SCHOOL FROM 2:45-3:30PM TO ROOM 7. PARKING PERMITS WERE SOLD FOR AN ENTIRE WEEK LAST WEEK FROM 7-7:35AM. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD UNDERSTANDS THAT HE OR SHE CANNOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO COME.

ONCE STUDENTS PURCHASE A PARKING SPOT, THEY MUST PARK IN THAT SPOT. ALL STUDENTS MUST BE REGISTERED AND IN THEIR SPOT BY AUGUST 24, 2009.

NO STUDENT MAY PARK ON CAMPUS UNLESS THEY HAVE REGISTERED THEIR VEHICLE. 

To obtain a parking permit form, students should get a paper copy the first week of school on the small table outside the office.

      To obtain a parking permit, a driver MUST present these items to Ms. Cox for review:

           1.      Valid Drivers' license

           2.      Proof of insurance

           3.      Registration

           4.      Completed SHS parking permit form

• The permit cost is $8.00. You must have the correct change. If not, you will be asked to go to the end of the line. Additional or replacement  permits will cost $3.00.  Parents and/or a legal guardian, student, and the owner of the vehicle must sign the parking permit form.

*********Permits will be sold August 18^th (seniors), 19^th (juniors), and 20^th (sophomores, ect) all others will be on August 21st in Ms. Cox's room between 7:00-7:45 a.m. on the designated day.*************

• Students who enroll or receive their license during the course of the year must get a parking permit form from the table outside the office and return it with the required information to Ms. Cox between 7:30-7:50 a.m. in room 7.
• No violation tickets will be given the first or second full week of school.
• The parking lots will be checked beginning the third full week of school (starting on August 24). No warnings will be given.
• Parking permits MUST be placed on the rearview mirror, numbers facing the front of the vehicle.

      1.      The numbers must be visible, no exceptions.

      2.      Tickets will be issued for inappropriate parking, i.e.: parking outside of the newly painted lines, no  

               permit, etc.

      3. Tickets will also be given for any unregistered vehicle. This is monitored by checking license plates. If the plate you registered is not on the car, then you will be ticketed.      To update license plates, simply get a new form from outside the office, fill it out and bring it to Ms. Cox.

      4.      Just for safety, please try to keep your vehicle locked at all times.

• On motorcycles, permits must be placed on the rear fender or on the license plate.

 Parking violations:

        1^st offense- $5.00 or one week restriction off campus

        2^nd offense- $10.00 or one month restriction off campus

        3^rd offense $25.00 or remainder of semester and/or school year restriction off campus. Violation counts start over each semester.

• Fines must be paid three (3) school days after notification of violation between 7:30 am-7:50 am to Ms. Cox in room 7. If fines are not paid within these days, you are not allowed to park on campus until you have paid the ticket.
• NEW: This year students who pay their tickets within the first three days following the date the ticket was issued will have their ticket fine reduced by half. Students who do not take care of their tickets in that time frame will pay full price.
