Guidance

Guidance Department

The Slocomb Middle/High School guidance office provides services through four components.  Guidance Curriculum provides guidance content in a systematic way to all students.  Individual Planning assists students in planning, monitoring, and managing their personal and career goals.  Responsive Services address the immediate concerns of students.  System Support includes program, staff, and school support activities and services.  We also work with students in four essential areas.  Personal Development helps students to gain self-awareness, improve self-esteem, and make healthy choices, and accept responsibility.  Educational Development helps students acquire study skills and test-taking skills, set educational goals and make educational choices.  Social Development helps students to develop feelings of adequacy, learn ways to establish healthy relationships, and respect individual differences.  Career Development helps students discuss educational standards that meet career goals and plan for the future.
